How to Make Beer in Black Desert Online

Don’t know how to make beer for your workers? Follow these steps to make beer to get them back working for you!

Why Beer?

In Black Desert Online (BDO) players have the option to assign workers to retrieve items from production nodes. As with anything, nothing is free. Workers will work for you as long as you feed them. Workers accept payment in beer, chicken, and other food items that can be made by cooking. The question of how to make beer arises! See below for instructions on how to make beer for your workers.

Follow these simple steps:

Hire a Worker

  1. Locate and travel to the Worker NPC.
  2. Hire a worker by speaking to the Worker NPC and spending energy.

Invest In A Grain Node

  1. Locate and travel to a Node that has Wheat (or another cereal grain).
  2. Speak to the Node Manager and select the Node Management option.
  3. Once you are in node management, select the Invest Contribution points button to invest contribution points to activate the node.
  4. Scroll down and highlight the grain that you wish to have your worker collect.
  5. Select the grain to invest contribution points into the production node. This will allow you to assign workers to collect from the production node. All collected items will be placed in the storage of the city of that the worker belongs to.
  6. Close the Node Management Menu

Assign a Worker to the Grain Node

  1. Scroll over and select the node that you have just invested contribution points in (the active node will node be red).
  2. Select the Manage Work option in the wheel with the right thumbstick. This will open the Node Management window.
  3. Scroll over and highlight a worker. Use the “Y” button to set the number of times that you want like the worker to repeat the collection task. Use”X” to instruct the worker to start working.

Purchase a House

  1. Purchase a house in a major city. This can be done using your contribution points. To purchase a house follow the steps below:
    • Open the Main Menu and select the World Map option.
    • Scroll over a major city and press the “A” button to enter the city option wheel.
    • Use the right thumbstick to select the Enter option at the top of the wheel.
    • Press the “Y” button to open the drop-down menu.
    • Select the Purchase House option.
    • Use your contribution points to purchase a house. Be sure to purchase a house that has Residence.

Make the Beer

  1. Once your worker has collected the grain travel to the city that the worker is from. Then navigate to the city storage NPC and retrieve at least 5 wheat from the storage.
  2. Navigate to the Cook NPC and purchase the following:
    • 1 Cooking Utensil
    • 6 Mineral Water (minimum)
    • 1 Sugar (minimum)
    • 2 Leaving Agents (minimum)
  3. Travel to and enter your previously purchased house.
  4. Press up on the D-pad to open the furniture placement mode.
  5. Highlight and select the cooking utensil that you purchased from the cook.
  6. Use the right stick and “A” button to place the cooking utensil.
  7. Walk up to the cooking utensil and hold “X” to open to cooking menu
  8. Press “A” to open your inventory to select the items that you need to make beer. These items are Wheat (or any cereal grain), leaving agent, mineral water, and sugar.
  9. Once all items have been selected, press “Y” to confirm and move back to the cooking menu.
  10. Use the up and down buttons on the D-pad to select the number of cooking materials that you would like to use for the beer. You will need 5 Wheat, 6 Mineral Water, 2 Leaving Agent, and 1 Sugar.
  11. Once the correct number of items have been selected, press “Y” to open the confirmation menu.
  12. Select the amount of beer that you would like to make and confirm. Your character will now begin the cooking process. If you are successful in cooking, you will receive the beer item in your inventory.
